Protea Australis Ruby

Proteas make a bold statement in the garden, and Protea Australis Ruby is no exception. With a bold red colour with silver and black feathering to the tips of the petals, this makes a great addition to the garden which is also great for floral arrangements. Wonderful as a cut or dried flower. It is a fabulous bird attracting plant for nectar birds through the winter and early spring. 

Growing a bushy 1.5m by 1.5m it is great for hedging, mixed shrub borders and fabulous in large pots.

 It loves full sun, likes a regular water preferring conditions that are not too dry. It can tolerate moderate frosts and coastal conditions. 

Proteas are sensitive to Phosphorous in fertiliser. For best results we recommend using Garden Delight Rock Minerals at planting and in place of a fertiliser.
